Summary of Director Rules and New Group Leader
as of May, 2010

The new Director and Group Leader Charts include the new rules related to qualifications that were passed in March.  We are pleased to announce two new classes now required for all Directors: Infant/Toddler Development and The Exceptional Child.  Please be advised the Department approved Expanding Quality Infant Toddler class will be accepted in meeting the Infant/Toddler Development class.   Please note that when considering classes that meet the requirements listed, the Division is looking at course content rather than just the name of the course.

The Advanced Credential Assessment will begin including the Infant Toddler and Exceptional Child content as of the testing period in October 2010.  Also at that time an assessment will be available that will just cover those two classes for those holding a current Credential Level II or are directors that have already taken all the eight courses.

Keep in mind that ALL directors MUST have the 10 classes (content) that are listed or pass the Advance Credential Assessment.  Classes must be taken every other year until the requirements are met.  Once the classes are completed, the Director must submit a new application, with official transcripts to the Department.  The Department will then issue a TIME DATED Letter that will expire two years after the issue date.

Once ALL requirements are met, a 5 year letter will be issued, to be renewed every five years when  additional 3 credit hour classes are taken.

This CD is a great resource with sample interview questions, job descriptions, orientation checklist, evaluation, and documentation forms.  In addition it contains information on hiring and firing from the law firm of Ireland Stapleton Pryor and Pascoe.

The Early Childhood Education Association is offering this CD to our members at the discounted price of $24.99; the non-member price of $49.99.  Please contact the office at 303-860-7174 or info@coloradoecea.org for your copy - a must-have resource for every owner, director and administrator!
